About the Course

This 1-day Chinese injury poultice and liniments practical hands on course has been specifically designed for participants who have a desire to learn more about how to make and use Chinese injury liniments and poultices.

Injury liniments became famous in martial arts circles for their efficacy in treating all sorts of pains and traumatic injuries gained in training.

  • On this course you will learn how to create and use a number of topical liniments and poultices based on Classical Chinese injury formula.
  • You will be taught the actions and uses of the Chinese herbs to help treat acute and chronic injuries.
  • You will cover how to integrate the use of them in your practice, and when to use the liniments on your patients, to speed repair and healing.
  • This is a very hands on practical educational day where you will touch, feel, smell and taste the herbs that you will use to create the liniments.
  • Through the day you will produce a number of liniments, poultice liquids, pastes, and herbal powder mixtures, to use for yourself or your patients, and receive a full set of notes and sample herbs detailing the actions of each of the herbs and the unique formulae for the liniments.
  • These liniments have a commercial value of over £50.00.

Is the course assessed?
  • Assessment is undertaken on a continuous basis by the tutor throughout the day as the course is a hands on practical course.

The course has been uniquely devised for practising and final year therapists of all disciplines who hold professional insurances that will cover them for the use of Massage within their scope of practice, and who have an interest in developing and enhancing their clinical skills.

A basic knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine is desirable but not necessary.

  • Refreshments and lunch sadly are not provided.
  • You will need to bring a pen or pencil, we will be providing everything else; full colour course notes, all of the training equipment etc.
  • You will be formatively assessed throughout the course by the tutor, with them providing you with constructive feedback and instruction.
  • All participants must be prepared to give and receive treatments during the training, and a must be over 18 years old.
  • If you are fasting for religious or other reasons you must inform the tutor before the course commences.
  • Due to the practical hands on nature of the course the minimum number of participants is 6.
