About the course
The course is designed to offer you as a participant full certification in Facial Revitalisation Acupuncture (FRA). It will provide you as a learner the chance to study with an international expert with 20 + years experience in this subject who has taught most of the teachers in the UK and the West on this subject.

Throughout the 3 days you will learn to use unique empirical points and specialised needle technique of Virginia’s original acupuncture protocol.

You will learn TCM and Western medical mechanisms for FRA, and review the current literature.You will be provided with a rationale for Traditional Chinese Medicine diagnosis of signs of ageing and choosing points for the individual and also for the order of the insertion and removal of the needles.T

he course will provide you with ample clinical supervision and and a great deal of hands on practical experience. You will be taught the location, and use of the facial acupuncture points used in Facial Revitalisation Acupuncture.

You will learn the basic theory of using acupuncture for revitalising the face and diminishing the signs of ageing and poor health reflected in the face.

By the end of the 3 days you will have learned to
Effectively diminish or erase signs of ageing such as wrinkles, sagging, age spots, etc.
Improve your palpation and needling skill.
Develop new skills and a new aspect to their practice and boost income.
Be able to use safely and effectively the points and techniques taught in the workshop.
Develop a basic understanding of how local (ie facial) acupuncture interacts with allopathic procedures such as botox, dermal fillers, and cosmetic surgery so you can determine eligibility according to safe practice guidelines taught.
Develop a full understanding of how to use both Japanese and Chinese acupuncture point locations and techniques to improve both appearance and health simultaneously.
To be able to use adjunctive massage and QiGong energy techniques for rejuvenating the face. Also the use of intradermal needles for improvement to the skin and appearance.
To be able to assess which meridians are involved with the individual’s signs of ageing and disharmony on the face.
To understand the importance of pre-screening patients for eligibility, safety and optimizing results.

Day 1 – Friday
Facial Massage, Acupressure, and Qi Gong Massage Techniques for Rejuvenating the Face.
Benefits and Contraindications of the Integrated Deep Muscle Therapy system to augment the effects of the Facial Revitalisation Acupuncture.
Locating face and scalp points in advance of needling.
Energy techniques to feel , stimulate, and move Qi.
Participants also prepare by locating points and practising techniques included in the acupuncture portion (Saturday and Sunday)

Day 2 and 3 – Saturday and Sunday
Introduction to Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture (FRA)
Brief history of Cosmetic Acupuncture and Philosophy of FRA.

Guidelines for administering Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture
Points For Specific Conditions ( Eye bags, sagging and jowls, drooping eyelids, Lip area wrinkles, double chin, pallor, facial puffiness including eyelids, facial redness, dry skin, enlarged pores, acne, eyebrow sparseness and age spots)
Other Important Points for FRA, Distal and Auricular Points for FRA,
Virginia Doran’s Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture Treatment Protocol including Needle technique for specific conditions such as wrinkles, sagging and jowls, broken capillaries, scars, age spots, acne scars, cystic acne, protruding temporal veins, double chin, cheekbone sculpting.

Assessment Theory exam:

Questions and Answers and written exam on FRA – (25 questions multiple choice)

Practical exam:

Practitioners team up with a colleague to administer a FRA treatment to a volunteer / outside patient.

Can I attend?
The course has been uniquely devised for practising and final year therapists of all disciplines who hold professional insurances that will cover them for the use of acupuncture within their scope of practice, and who have an interest in developing and enhancing their clinical skills.

Acupuncturists (BAcC, BMAS, ATCMA etc.).
Osteopaths (Dry needling).
Chiropractors (Dry needling).
Physiotherapists (AACP).
Naturopaths
Etc.

A working knowledge of acupuncture (any particular style) is required.
This course is not suitable for any practitioner not trained in and qualified to practice acupuncture.
All participants must ensure that their nails are cut and filed very short to be able to practice techniques covered.
Please dress appropriately for a full body treatment on the final day and be prepared to receive and administer a treatment.

If as a participant you have a contraindication, you are not expected to receive treatment but will get extra clinical experience.

Before you attend
Refreshments and lunch sadly are not provided.
You will need to bring a pen or pencil, we will be providing everything else; full colour course notes, all of the training equipment etc.
All participants must be prepared to give and receive treatments during the training, and a must be over 18 years old.
If you are fasting for religious or other reasons you must inform the tutor before the course commences.
As a participant you should have a sound working knowledge of TCM Acupuncture.
Due to the practical hands on nature of the course the maximum number of participants is 30, the minimum is 10.

You should revise the location of the facial acupuncture points.
