Jersey special 2 day CPD course

Course outline

This bespoke 2 day CPD course has been developed at the request of the practitioners in the Channel Islands. Each of the 2 days has been divided up into 2 separate areas of interest, covering 4 areas in total. The 2 days will look at the aetiology, pathology, and treatment of the conditions listed.

 

Who is it for?

The course has been uniquely devised for practising therapists who hold professional insurances that cover them for the use of acupuncture within their scope of practice, and who have an interest in developing and enhancing their clinical skills.

Acupuncturists (all styles) BAcC, AACP, BMAS, ATCMA,

Naturopaths, Osteopaths, Chiropractors, Physiotherapists, etc.

 

What will I learn?

You will cover how to identify in terms of TCM these conditions and how to treat them using a variety of approaches including acupuncture dietary therapy, nutrition etc.

You will explore the aetiology and pathology of the irregular cycle and cover a number of acu-points in the ear and on the body that can be used to help.

 

Day 1 – Gynaecological issues

AM session

The morning session will cover 3 subject areas.

  • Pre Menstrual Syndrome (PMS)
  • Irregular cycle
  • Peri-menopausal and Menopausal symptoms. (Hot flushes etc.)

 

PM session

In the afternoon you will look at Poly Cystic Ovaries and Poly cystic ovarian syndrome, this as well as anovulation and problems related to fertility arising from this.

  • PCOS
  • Amenorrhea
  • Anovulation
  • Fertility problems

 

Day 2 – Stroke and Fibromyalgia

AM session

  • Stroke

The morning will be spent looking at strokes, the aetiology and pathology of the different types of strokes, TIA, embolic and thrombotic.

PM session

  • Fibromyalgia

In the afternoon we will look at Fibromyalgia, its many manifesting forms, and how to manage and treat this condition.

 

How many hours CPD is it?

  • 8 hours CPD for 1 day
  • 16 hours CPD for 2 days

 

Is the course assessed?

  • Yes there will be formative observation and feedback of all of the practical aspects to the course such as needling etc.

You must be over 18 years of age.

You will receive on the day a full set of colour notes.
